This Week In StomperNet — "MORE LINKS" — July 26, 2010

Hello Stompers!

Welcome to 'This Week in StomperNet'!  We learned some goooood SEO last week in Atlanta at SEO Pro, so this week we're gonna focus on something that everyone needs: "MORE LINKS!"

StomperNet Faculty Member Eric Shannon has explained link building to us really well. He uses 3 main levels of link building.

  • Level 1: This is the place to start. Do this before anything else. Don't worry about doing more complicated link building until you get this system in place. Eric gives you his Level 1 "Complete Content Syndication Blueprint" .
  • Level 2: Once you have Level 1 in place (and being systematically implemented by someone other than yourself!), it's time to implement Level 2, which involves getting your good content on REAL websites. This is the best source of links, because the sites posting your content are "real" sites (usually owned by an individual) that don't have a million outbound links. They appear natural to the search engines because they ARE natural. Natural is good. :) However, it's more complicated, expensive, and time consuming than level 1. Are you ready for Level 2?!? Here's a video about "Vertical Directories", which are a fairly simple and painless way to get started in Level 2.
  • Level 3: This is advanced link building. Eric says to only mess with Level 3, which is the process of building your own network of sites that link to your money site, when the other levels are solid. The possibilities are endless, and in this video, Eric shows how he builds the mysterious beasts known as "Pagerank Pumpers".

Edge Network: Coined by Dan Thies, an Edge Network is the force that pushes extra link juice into your syndicated content and pumper sites. It can be kinda spammy, and there are thousands of methods to build an Edge Network, but here is how to build the now famous "Juicer Sites." Actually, Eric would rather have Stompernet delete this video off the portal and burn it…. because it always leads to people asking technical questions. So, if you MUST watch this, you have to promise not to get obsessive over the details. Eric says "just understand the concept, and build something according to the general idea. Know that they won't work perfectly, and please do NOT do these unless you're already pretty good at link building and already have some good rankings… because in the grand scheme of things, these Juicer Sites are NOT that important!" (but they're still a really cool idea!)

'TAKE ACTION' CONTESTS:
Time is running out! We had such a great time with our "Content Creation" month. Thanks to all of you for the amazing feedback. Don't forget–you have until July 31st to get your entries in.
